THINGS I'VE BUILT / PROJECT STORY
Family Hub
Making the family calendar actually useful.
The annoying part
We already had a calendar, weather, and a list of household tasks. They just lived in different places, and nobody wanted to open several apps to answer “what is happening today?”
What was already there
The information existed. It needed a useful view for the moments when someone walks into the kitchen and has a few seconds to look.
What I built
I made an always-on display that pulls together today’s schedule, weather, items needing attention, and a compressed view of the week. It lives on an inexpensive Android tablet that had been sitting around for years.
Why it’s useful
The old tablet got a second life as part of the household. The point was not adding another gadget; it was making what we already had useful at a glance.
Not a concept. It actually lives in our kitchen. ↗
